Criteria to regulate the ethical performance of the publication

Transparency: The journal's editorial policy, peer review process, manuscript evaluation criteria and responsibilities of the editor, editorial committees, reviewers and authors are published.

Claims: the journal follows the procedure established in the COPE flow chart. The mechanism to express complaints consists of sending an email to the editor of the Journal. The editor should respond promptly.

Promotion of academic integrity: the editor will ensure that published research material conforms to internationally accepted ethical guidelines.

Protection of individual data: editors must protect the confidentiality of individual information.

Tracking inappropriate behaviors: The editor has the duty to act if he/she suspects inappropriate behavior (plagiarism, falsification of data, works previously published in other media, undeclared conflicts of interest, non-recognition of the corresponding authorship, among others). She/he have a duty not only to reject articles that violate ethical standards but also to follow up on alleged cases of inappropriate conduct. This implies, first of all, seeking an answer from the accused persons. If she/he is not satisfied with the answer, should ask employers or a regulatory body to investigate the situation, making all reasonable attempts to persist in obtaining a solution to the problem.

Editorial independence: The editor must make decisions about which articles to publish based on their quality and appropriateness rather than on the economic or political benefits that this may bring.

Conflict of interests: The editor must have systems to manage their own conflicts of interest, as well as those of their staff, authors, reviewers and members of the editorial board.

The Journal uses Turnitin, a plagiarism-screening software, to check the originality of content submitted.
